There is a gene named Sonic hedgehog. I'm serious.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_hedgehog
"Some clinicians and scientists criticize giving genes frivolous or quirky names, calling it inappropriate that patients with "a serious illness or disability are told that they or their child have a mutation in a gene such as Sonic hedgehog.""
Others:
* Zbtb7, a gene which was originally named Pokémon after the video game Pokémon
* Pikachurin, a retinal protein named after Pikachu

The first thing I'd like to do is recommend downloading all of William Basinski's Disintegration Loops. Once again, I've never heard anything like it. It's totally different. Please download it.

Part I
Part II
Part III
Part IV
The second thing I'd like to do is show you this awesome collection of rings I found while browsing Etsy.

Finding for music that really is different is difficult. I'm really lucky to have stumbled upon Preslav Literary School via ill-formed. Tags on last.fm include: field recordings, cut up, found sound, drone, etc.

Back from Atlanta. Met some nice people, drank some great smoothies, bought some good records. I saw Atlas Sound, and he was really good, even if some people had temper tantrums. I determined that Black Lips are not worth seeing. There was some embarrassment and awkwardness, and a lot of freedom, social ease, and happiness. Overall, it was a positive experience, minus the plum mint sushi.

I have a new obsession. I don't have any way to post media, however, besides through these links to two albums:

Beauty Pill - The Unsustainable Lifestyle (2004)
and

Smart Went Crazy - Con Art (1997)
Both are atypical Dischord indie rock bands, sharing the same vocalists. Their sounds are similar. I highly recommend both downloads.

While looking through ffffound today, I found a picture that reminded me a lot of something I had seen a long time ago, and after searching for a while, I remembered that it reminded me of the artwork by Chris Pottinger on the Tasty Soil Records website. Have a look:

They even sell cute little pins in the label's online shop.
I remember finding this label through an awesome Slither video:
So cool.
