This is going to be an exciting month. I am really looking forward to this show on the 12th:

I am also looking forward to learning how to cook foods which are both healthy and delicious. Today I tried an easy recipe that I found on 101cookbooks which was sort of like a salad omlette. Here it is. It didn't turn out as pretty as their example, but it was still really delicious and filling. I want to try their veggie burger recipes. (1 , 2) and maybe even one morning I will treat myself to the poppy seed pancakes.

There are a lot of clothes on sale at Creatures of Comfort, none of which I am able to buy. :|

F-Troupe $110 $33

Fred Perry $132 $36.60

Peter Jensen $140 $42

I would especially love the Peter Jensen sneakers. I bet they would look cute with my gray jeans. I will be going up to Birmingham soon and will be sure to raid their thrift shops and Urban Outfitters. Very excited.

I've been listening to this one album over and over lately and not much else. It's American Analog Set's album From Our Living Room To Yours download via rapidshare

I guess summer is ending which means that the weather is cooling off a little and that soon it will be picnic time again. I've found this really excellent picnic set on Etsy and some picnic food recipes on the New York Times website. I really want to make the couscous or tabouli and get some fresh fruit and make a nice fruit salad. My only problem is finding someone to go with. Other finds today: Etsy

It's sort of disappointing that Tropical Storm Fay pretty much missed us. They say "it's not over yet," but I know that there's no way I'm going to be able to miss school on Monday. It's probably for the better anyway.

I'm hoping that next weekend will be sunny so that I can go bike riding and go through the back of the Grand Hotel in time for tea time. The tea and cookies are free. I'll take my camera. Maybe I'll just have my picnic. If it ends up raining I'll probably go explore some of the local antique shops now that my interest in vintage has increased sharply.

Today I bought the new Sub Pop edition of Mojo. I must say, the CD rules. But I noticed that they mentioned My Bloody Valentine a total of 3 times throughout the magazine including a huge spread about them. Kevin Shields was mentioned a 4th time because of his project with Patti Smith. I called it; they're coming back.

Another thing I happened to see was a little snippet where they said that Creation Records are merging with Sony. Sony is taking over Creation. It's officially the death of shoegaze. At least they haven't taken 4AD yet.

This leads me to wonder if My Bloody Valentine are going to stay with Creation/Sony? If so, that makes them a major label band. That would be really strange. Actually, didn't they get kicked off of Creation in like 2002 anyway because they took so long to make new material? I don't remember. They might be with Island now.

In other news, school starts Tuesday and I still haven't read Their Eyes Were Watching God. Oops.
It's hard to believe that summer is almost over and that school starts back on Tuesday. While I'm almost a little excited, I'm also very nervous because Mrs. Willis gives me nightmares already and I'm not even filling out applications yet. Maybe Mrs. Willis gives me nightmares because I am not filling out applications yet. Oops.

Monday, however, will be an awesome last ever last day of summer before school in grade school. I'll get a haircut and a pedicure and eyebrow wax and then head over to Marble Slab and get the double-dark chocolate ice cream and have them put strawberries in it. And then I will go to Fresh Market and take a vacation from Alabama's atmosphere and buy some unnecessarily expensive "organic" food that I will feel good eating later.

I want to go to New York City. I want to have an apartment with Noah and have pretty kitchen things and he can teach me about film and I can teach him about biology. I want to see art and shows and go to film festivals and museums and zoos. I want to be around and learn about culture and see lots of fashion and try new foods and have all my firsts. I'm so excited for the future. You don't even know.

Today is Monday which means that school starts back in a week and one day. It'll be my last first day of regular grade school. This is going to be a year of lasts, I guess. I don't know whether to be excited or sad. Probably both.

I finished my Summer Scrubs thing last Friday. I spent Thursday eating breakfast for 2 hours (not exaggerating) and then spending the other 2 hours "learning" about nursing and physical therapy. One man bragged about how is daughter goes to Bayside as if we were just some "lowly public school kids". One lady assumed we were all going to be nurses and proceeded to brag about her daughter who is apparently part of the Daphne IB program (oOOoOoooOOoOoO exCUSE me).

Friday was excellent, however. I held a heart and poked some lungs and learned about research (this was the only site that even mentioned research) which made me determine that I want to go into research and that I have absolutely no interest in being a doctor unless I go into pathology. But even then I'm not sure I'll want to have to deal with the other idiots in the hospital. Fuck medical school.

They told us (and I don't even know if this is true) that while medical school puts you into ultra-debt, grad school (which you go to to be a reseracher or forensic scientist or whatever) not only pays for your health and dental stuff but also pays you a $23,000 stipend. What the fuck? Since when? Of course, this isn't the reason I've decided I don't want to be a doctor. That would be silly.

I've partly decided I don't want to be a doctor because I don't want to have to deal with the patients all day and also I don't have social skills. Also, it seems boring and hospitals smell gross. I'm pretty sure that I'm more interested in being a huge biology nerd for the rest of my life.

The other people in the Summer Scrubs thing who I encountered really don't seem like they have any sort of business being a doctor. They "want to help people" but really they just want money. It couldn't be more obvious. They had a guy who is part of the research team at USA come and give us a short 10-20 minute lecture on the effects of bacteria on lungs and he talked about how they probably break down certain parts of the cytoskeleton (namely the microtubules) which causes the fluid to build up etc and he also explained other parts of the cytoskeleton and the animal cell and gave us a very basic Biology 101 lesson. None of the other girls in my group understood very well, much less did they care. How do they think they're going to make it as a biology major? Seriously? Idiots.

On an unrelated note, I bought an ultra-cute messenger bag on Saturday. It's on sale at the refinery29shops. You can look at it here if you want. I also bought one of the Steven Alan shirts that were on sale. I'll hopefully get it in the mail soon.

Kashi products are amazing. That picture is of the cereal I eat now. So good. I also recommend the Kashi TLC crackers (they taste like cardboard at first but then they taste awesome) and the Kashi pizza in the frozen section which isn't exactly healthy but since it's Kashi you can at least pretend that it is.
